When Experiences Become Transformations
May 6, 2026·0 comments·Media
There's a progression happening in the world of value creation, and most people (and businesses) are stuck three levels back from where they should be.
Joe Pine spent the early portion of his career at IBM, fascinated by the relationship between how commodities become goods, and goods become services. He made a (new!) career out of the revelation that the delivery of services creates experiences, but it left him wondering - what comes next? Because surely, it doesn't just stop there. Why do some experiences get stale while others don't?
Shannon Staton went from regular retail jobs to helping coordinate some of the largest events in finance for some very intelligent - and high-end - clientele. She was intuiting what makes a great experience. When she founded her own company 4 years ago, she put everything she'd learned up to this point on the line.
Joe and Shannon both were approaching the same problem from two different directions. How similar are their ideas and conclusions? You'll have to watch to find out.
This is where the future of business lives, in curating transformations.
